OUR STORY
My name is Brett and I was born and raised in Texas. I spent my formative years in Austin, moving here from Houston in 2003. I earned my Eagle Scout rank with Troop 990 at St. John Neumann. I attended Westlake High School, playing JV football and before joining the Push-Up Squad my Senior Year. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Psychology in 2015.
I then moved out to the mountains of Colorado where I learned much about life, love, and business. I earned my Master of Business Administration from Willamette University in Oregon and spent the next 3 years as Director of Operations of a regional retail chain, followed by a stint in the tech world as a consultant for large enterprise clients. After nearly a decade of desk work, I knew it was time for a change. Some of the most rewarding parts of my career were those times I got to work with my hands to solve real problems in the physical world. Fate brought me back to Austin, where I met my wonderful wife and future business partner, Krystal. I decided to set off on my own to make an impact in the world through my knowledge and experience of home maintenance, carpentry, and project management. My wife and I founded Verdant Mountain Homes in Austin with the goal of providing high quality, reliable construction work for my community.

The building in which you live is more than just a structure. It has a deep, meaningful role in your life. It is your Home - a word that often gets misused and warped. A Home is not the physical parts of your house. Rooms, doors, drywall, paint, studs, foundation...these mere objects alone do not make a Home. A Home is defined not by the physical world but by the emotional one. You deserve to feel a certain way when you arrive Home - like everything is right in the world, at least for a moment. That idea is always top-of-mind for any project I undertake. Working on someone's Home is an honor and privilege, and I promise to always ensure your space is respected. If you have any specific requests (i.e. How I should announce my arrival or departure; How I should communicate/interact with you or anyone else on your property; How much you want to be involved in the process; If you have restrictions on noisy work hours) please let me know. I will ensure your requests are followed to my utmost ability. If there are any project management issues with your request, I will respectfully inform you of all the facts so you can make an informed decision about the next steps.

Home-ownership is often a life-long endeavor. Once embarked upon, although the physical structure may change, your emotional and financial investment into your Home should continue to grow. Spending time with your family, grinding those extra hours at the office, or taking time for self-care often rank (rightfully) higher on the list than fixing that squeaky floorboard or replacing the rotting fence that has long contributed to the sanctuary of your home. Even a simple 30-minute job can end up taking months just because of the countless other priorities you have constantly at play. As a family-oriented, home-owning, businessman, I know this struggle all too well. I started Verdant Mountain Homes to allow me to use my working hours to help others focus on their families, careers, and health. Leave the home maintenance and repairs to us.
